Claim and verify
Search for your business on Google Maps. If a listing exists, claim it. If not, create one. Follow Google’s verification steps so you can edit the profile and answer reviews.
Get the basics exactly right
- Business name: use your real-world name, the one on your sign, invoices and website. Do not add keywords or locations to it.
- Categories: pick the one primary category that best describes your main business, then add secondary categories that truly apply.
- Address or service area: show an address only if customers visit you. If you travel to customers, set the areas you serve instead.
- Phone and website: use a number you answer, and link to the page that best matches the profile.
- Hours: set regular hours and update special and holiday hours.
Describe what you offer
- Add each service you offer, with a short description.
- Write a clear business description in plain words: what you do, who you help and where.
- Add attributes that apply, such as appointment links, online estimates or accessibility.
Add real photos and a logo
- Upload your logo and a cover photo.
- Add recent photos of your work, your team, your location and your vehicles or storefront.
- Replace old or low-quality photos as you take better ones.
Build and answer reviews
- Ask every happy customer for a review, with a direct link to your review page.
- Reply to every review, kindly, including the negative ones.
- Never buy, trade for or write fake reviews. It breaks Google’s rules and can get a profile restricted.
Keep it consistent with your website
Your name, address and phone number should match your website and every other listing exactly. Link your profile from your website, and make sure the website has a page for each service you list.
Keep it fresh
- Post updates, offers or events when you have them.
- Check questions and answers and respond.
- Review the profile monthly: hours, photos, services and any suggested edits from the public.
